Sister Eileen Reilly is originally from Most Blessed Sacrament Parish in Southwest Philadelphia and graduated from West Catholic High School. Sister entered the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart after graduation and served it the Arlington, Philadelphia and Allentown diocese.
In 1978 Sister Eileen was missioned to Peru and spent the next 32 years serving in Chile and Peru. “Living and working with the beautiful people of Chile and Peru and to learn about their customs had blessed my life in so many ways.
On her return to the United States in 2016, Sister worked for five years teaching English to immigrants from all over the world. “God continues to bless me through the many different and wonderful students I meet each day.”
During the COVID pandemic, as the Literacy program was closed, Sister asked if she could volunteer to work at Mercy House. Sister Eileen was then officially assigned to work at Mother of Mercy House in July, 2021.
My heart is full of joy to be able to serve at MOMH with such a caring and loving staff. Pope Francis has said, “God is always a surprise, you never know where or how you will find God.”
I find God in each member of the staff and in each soul I meet on the streets of Kensington. I thank God each day for having led me here to serve in this holy place.
